"We’re wondering what you’d like to hear over the P.A. system, in the distinctive style of Bernie Wagenblast, the platform voice of the Seventh Avenue and Lexington Avenue lines: Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (once known as the IRT). On Friday, Mr. Wagenblast will record a few listeners’ requests."
I want what always comes to mind on an uptown 6: “Up to Lexington 125. Feel sick and dirty more dead than alive.”

I still call them the IRT. As long as Bernie does not refer to those lines by their colors. Never ever call them the red or green line, respectively.
